Suwannee River State Park - Live Oak, Florida

PFR ***
Campground ***

This is a pretty state park, but the sites are very primitive.  Our site was plenty long, and nice and wide, but it was just lose dirt with no grass or anything else.  It was very tight to get into.

There were too many trees to get rooftop satellite, and nowhere to put the portable, so no satellite TV.  We did get several OTA channels though.

This is a FHU site

Site #10
$18/night with FL resident senior discount
Length of stay 1 night
Satellite - None
OTA - 9 channels, including MeTv and some networks
Water pressure - 45 lbs

Outback Springs RV Resort - Bonifay, Florida

PFR **
Campground **

This campground was fine for an overnight stay, but sure wouldn't want to stay longer than that.

We had a pull-thru site that was long enough for the rig and car, and was fairly level.  The parking pad was gravel, with grass & dirt between sites.  The sites were VERY close together!  If we had stopped a foot farther back in the site, our awning would have hit our neighbor's slide.

We only put out 2 xpens because there just wasn't room for more than that.  Even 2 pens was crowded.

Site #30
$35/night with Good Sam discount (expensive for what it is)
Length of stay - 1 night
Satellite - All 3
Water pressure - 60 lbs

Escapees Rainbow Plantation - Summerdale, Alabama

PFR *****
Camground *****

This is our 2nd time here.  The last time was 2 years ago.  We have a MUCH nicer site this time. It doesn't have any trees for shade, so we have great satellite reception, no acorns, and great grass.  The site is VERY large.  Plenty of room for all 7 of our pens.  The site is also pretty level.  While we don't have shade during the day or afternoon, we do get nice shade in the evening from a neighboring tree.

They actually had put us in site 85 when we arrived, but it had just dirt and acorns, like 79 did.  I saw that 86 was not occupied, so I went up and asked if we could move, and they let us move.

Site #86
Length of stay 13 days
$144/week
$24/day
$3/day extra for 50 amp
Satellite - All 3

We had a nice wide, level site, with a huge oak tree, but the angle of the site, the tree did  not give much shade.  One downside was that most of the dog yard was sand, with very little grass.  Also, it was Fall, so the acorns were falling!  When we got here, the site was mostly covered with them.  Normally, we would only hear one fall now & then, but one night it was really windy, and it sounded like it was raining.  They made a lot of noise.  I had to use a broom to sweep them out of the dog yard.  Harvey and a couple of others liked eating them.  They didn't seem to bother them.

No cable, but have several OTA channels, including MeTV.  No wifi.

The people are SUPER nice here, and they all love the dogs.  We have people coming by all the time to see them.

Paul B Johnson State Park, COE - Hattiesburg, Mississippi

PFR *****
Campground ****

This is a nice park with wide, level, paved parking pads and good grass yard areas.

The first time we were at this park was just over 1 year ago, in site #16.  It was a somewhat secluded site with a walkway that lead to a small island, and right on the water.

The site we are in this time, site #29, is very large in width, but it is not secluded at all.  It is right up front on the main road coming into the loop.  There were several trees on one side of the site, but none extended over the parking area, so we got good satellite reception.  We could have put our all of our pens, but only put our 3 because it was rainy and just for one night.

Site #29
$16/night with senior pass
Full Hookup site
Length of stay - 1 night
Satellite - All 3

Lake Chicot State Park - Lake Village, Arkansa

PFR *****
Campground ***

This is a nice park with wide, level, paved sites.  All 50 amp sites are FHU.  We were in a cul-de-sac that was VERY tricky to get in an out of.

Our site was large enough for all 7 of our xpens, but since we were there for just one rainy night, we just put out 3.  The yard area was a mixture of rough cut gravel and grass.

Site #14
$25.50/night with 25% senior discount (using the senior pass)
Length of stay - 1 night
Satellite - Too many trees for rooftop, but got all 3 with portable.
Water pressure - 45 lbs.

Old Post Park COE - Russelllville, Arkansas

PFR *****
Campground *****

This is our 3rd time in this park.  The first 2 times we were in B16, which is a nice site.  This time, we are in B36.  It is a GREAT site!  It backs up to the river, has a really nice crushed gravel patio, and a large grassy area between it and the next site.  We could have put out all 7, but we only put out 5 pens.  The patio cover is in a great location, up near the parking pad.  We also get all 3 satellites with the rooftop.

We need to plan a stay here for more than just one night!

September 21, 2017

This is a nice park, with large shaded sites, and wide level parking pads.  It is right on the Arkansas River.

Since we were only here for 1 night, we only put out 5 xpens, but could have put out all 7.  There were several ant beds in the grassy area next to the parking pad, but not a huge problem. The picnic table is covered.

Too bad we are here for just one night.  This is a nice site.

Water and electric only
Site #B16 & B36
$10/night
Length of stay - 1 night
OTA - None in 16, didn't try in 36
Satellite - 16 - Had to use the portable dish, all 3.

Warrior RV Park - Tulsa, Oklahoma

PFR ****
Campground ****

This is a nice park with paved roads and level concrete pads.  The sites are comfortably wide, with nice grass between.  But, the pull-thrus are not quite long enough for our rig and car, without the car being partially in the street on one end and the bicycle rack on the other end.  But, everyone's cars were in the street too, so we didn't worry about it.  The utilities are at the very back of the sites, so we had to park at the all the way to the rear of the site.  The concrete patio is centered on the site, so the awning ended up only covering the patio and not the grass.

They asked how many dogs we have when I called to reserve the site.  They had no problem with us having 6.  No mention of pets was made during our check-in.  We put up our xpens as usual.  A few days after we got here, the owner of the park knocked on our door.  She said they were going to moe the grass the next day and we would have to move our fence.  Then she told me that the rules stated that they do not allow fences.  I told her that the rules we were given said that dogs should not be left unattended in fences.  She said they really meant that fences were not allowed, but since we seem to keep our yard area clean, she would be OK with us using it until we leave.  She said that they quit allowing them because most people did not keep the area clean.

We stayed here when we came for David's funeral.  It is about a 20 minute drive from here to Sheila's house.  There is a recycling bin about a mile down the road that takes paper, plastic, aluminum, and steel cans, but not glass.

Aux Arc Park (South Park) COE - Ozark, Arkansas

PFR ****
Campground ****

This is a nice COE.  The roads are paved and parking pads are level blacktop.  The sites are wide, with good grass between, and have crushed rock patios.  Our site backed up to the Arkansas River, with a nice view.

There are a lot of trees, so it was very difficult to find a place where the portable satellite could find a signal. Only found 2 satellites.

There are a LOT of ant hills and gopher trails!

We didn't go into town, but there is shopping within a short distance.

They allow gray water to be drained onto the ground, using a garden hose.

Site #B20
$10/night with senior discount
Length of stay - 1 night
Antenna - 4 channels
Satellite - Took some time, but we found a spot where the portable found 2 satellites
Water pressure - 38 lbs
Water and Electric Only

Cullman Campground - Cullman, Alabama

PFR **
Campground **

This campground is "fine" for an overnight stop, but wouldn't want to stay any longer than that.  The sites are plenty long, and fairly level, but VERY narrow.  If there was an RV in the site next to us, with slides, there would be hardly any room at all on our patio side.

The interior roads are very narrow.  The sites are gravel with grass between.  Our site looked pretty level, but the outside right rear tire was off the ground a little.

We only put out 2 xpens, since we were here for just one night, but we wouldn't have had room for any more because the grass area between our site and the one next to us was so narrow.

Site #69
$28.80 with Good Sam discount
Length of stay - 1 night
OTA - NONE!
Satellite - Could only get 1 with rooftop, all 3 with portable.
Water pressure - 45
