River Plantation RV Resort - Sevierville, Tennessee

PFR *****
Campground ****

BRD Spring 2019 Rally

This is a really nice campground with large, level sites, and some trees.  The parking pads are gravel, with nice grass between, and a concrete patio & picnic table.  We had enough room for all 7 xpens, but the campground rules state that you can only have a 10' x 10' fence area.

We could not get any satellites on the rooftop, and it took a lot of work to finally find a place for the portable to receive all 3.  They also have cable.

Our site, as well as most sites in the campground, flooded when it rained.  Most of our yard area was a lake.

Site #196
$46.50/night ($38.50 rally rate)
Length of stay - 1 week
Satellite - None on rooftop, All 3 on portable, with a lot of work.
Cable
Water pressure - 60 lbs

Harrison Bay State Park - Harrison, Tennessee

PFR *****
Campground ***

This is a very family oriented park.  A lot of kids.  Our site was directly across from the baseball field.  The sites are very close together.  Our site actually had quite a bit of grassy area on the awning side, and we could have put at least 5 pens out, but since we were here just overnight, we only put out 2 pens.  The parking pad is level blacktop, with good grass on either side.

This is not a site we would want to spend more than a day or 2 in, but good for overnight.  We stayed at this park once before, but apparently it was before I started the blog.

Site #16
$25/night
Length of stay - 1 night
Water & Electric only
OTA - 30 channels, but not all watchable
Satellite - Could not get any satellites with the rooftop.  Did not put out portable.

Carroll's Sausage & Country Store - Ashburn, Georgia

PFR ****
Campground ***

This campground is operated by, and is next to, the country store, and is just a big grass lot with 20 RV sites.  No trees of landscape.  The parking pads are gravel pull-thrus, that are fairly close together.  We only put out 2 pens, but could have put out 4 or 5.  There was only one other site occupied when we arrived, although a 5th wheel pulled in right next to us later.

When we arrived, they told us to just pick a site.  They did not ask for our name, or any other information.  They gave us a $10 coupon good toward a purchase in their store.

The first site we tried, we could not get level.  The 2nd site, the electric tested ok at fist, but while we were setting up, the surge protector indicated low voltage.  So, we moved to a 3rd site that turned out to be fine.  It is right off of I-75, so there was a lot of road noise during the night.

Site #3
$30/night (and $10 coupon for store purchase)
Length of stay - 1 night
OTA 8 channels
Satellite - All 3
Water pressure - Didn't hook up.

Campground **

Stayed here for an overnight.  They have added 30 new sites since our last stay, so we thought the new sites would probably be better than the original ones.  The site we were in was very unlevel.  We had to put blocks under the jack and tires to get level.  Mike checked several surrounding sites with the 4' level and they were all the same.  Another camper started out on the row behind us and could not get level there, so they moved to the site next to us.  They had to use blocks also.  May not ever stay here again.

Site #36

$45/night (and a $10 coupon for in-store purchase)

Length of stay - 1 night

Suwannee River State Park - Live Oak, Florida

PFR ***
Campground ***

This is a pretty state park, but the sites are very primitive.  Our site was plenty long, and nice and wide, but it was just lose dirt with no grass or anything else.  It was very tight to get into.

There were too many trees to get rooftop satellite, and nowhere to put the portable, so no satellite TV.  We did get several OTA channels though.

This is a FHU site

Site #10
$18/night with FL resident senior discount
Length of stay 1 night
Satellite - None
OTA - 9 channels, including MeTv and some networks
Water pressure - 45 lbs

Outback Springs RV Resort - Bonifay, Florida

PFR **
Campground **

This campground was fine for an overnight stay, but sure wouldn't want to stay longer than that.

We had a pull-thru site that was long enough for the rig and car, and was fairly level.  The parking pad was gravel, with grass & dirt between sites.  The sites were VERY close together!  If we had stopped a foot farther back in the site, our awning would have hit our neighbor's slide.

We only put out 2 xpens because there just wasn't room for more than that.  Even 2 pens was crowded.

Site #30
$35/night with Good Sam discount (expensive for what it is)
Length of stay - 1 night
Satellite - All 3
Water pressure - 60 lbs

Escapees Rainbow Plantation - Summerdale, Alabama

PFR *****
Camground *****

This is our 2nd time here.  The last time was 2 years ago.  We have a MUCH nicer site this time. It doesn't have any trees for shade, so we have great satellite reception, no acorns, and great grass.  The site is VERY large.  Plenty of room for all 7 of our pens.  The site is also pretty level.  While we don't have shade during the day or afternoon, we do get nice shade in the evening from a neighboring tree.

They actually had put us in site 85 when we arrived, but it had just dirt and acorns, like 79 did.  I saw that 86 was not occupied, so I went up and asked if we could move, and they let us move.

Site #86
Length of stay 13 days
$144/week
$24/day
$3/day extra for 50 amp
Satellite - All 3

October 19, 2016

We had a nice wide, level site, with a huge oak tree, but the angle of the site, the tree did  not give much shade.  One downside was that most of the dog yard was sand, with very little grass.  Also, it was Fall, so the acorns were falling!  When we got here, the site was mostly covered with them.  Normally, we would only hear one fall now & then, but one night it was really windy, and it sounded like it was raining.  They made a lot of noise.  I had to use a broom to sweep them out of the dog yard.  Harvey and a couple of others liked eating them.  They didn't seem to bother them.

No cable, but have several OTA channels, including MeTV.  No wifi.

The people are SUPER nice here, and they all love the dogs.  We have people coming by all the time to see them.

Site #79
Length of stay - 1 month + 9 days
$340/month + electric
$126/week

Paul B Johnson State Park, COE - Hattiesburg, Mississippi

PFR *****
Campground ****

This is a nice park with wide, level, paved parking pads and good grass yard areas.

The first time we were at this park was just over 1 year ago, in site #16.  It was a somewhat secluded site with a walkway that lead to a small island, and right on the water.

The site we are in this time, site #29, is very large in width, but it is not secluded at all.  It is right up front on the main road coming into the loop.  There were several trees on one side of the site, but none extended over the parking area, so we got good satellite reception.  We could have put our all of our pens, but only put our 3 because it was rainy and just for one night.

Site #29
$16/night with senior pass
