Pandion Ridge RV Resort - Orange Beach, Alabama

PFR **
Campground *****

This is a great resort, with a lot of amenities, and very nice sites.  The parking pads are level concrete and very wide.  There is also a wide grassy area between each site.

We were here for a BRD rally and had a GREAT time!  But, they are not doggie friendly.  They have a 2 dog limit, so we could only put 2 out at a time.  The first day we put the xpens up and included a large area of the grassy area.  The 2nd day we were there, someone came by and told us that they would let us have the pens on the concrete, but not on the grass.  Kind of defeats the purpose, but we made it work.  We pulled the pen up onto the concrete, then when we let 2 dogs out, we would move part of the pen out onto the grass, then back onto the concrete when everyone was done.

We will be going back there for a few days at New Year, but only because Jim & Kathy will be there.  We will do the same thing then that we did this week.

Le Fleur's Bluff State Park - Jackson, Mississippi

PFR *****
Campground  ***

This is a nice little park in the middle of Jackson.  It looked like most of the sites would not have worked very well for our setup, but our site was great!  It was very wide, and adequately long.  It actually had 2 concrete pads next to each other, with packed dirt & gravel next to the pads.  Our site also backed up to the water.

The park entrance is right next to a school, so if you try to leave when school it about to be let out, you are blocked in.

River Town Campground - Vicksburg, Mississippi

PFR *****
Campground ****

The sites at this campground are wider than most private campgrounds, with pretty nice grass between sites. Plenty of room for all 7 xpens, without crowding the neighbor next door.

The parking pad was low in the front, so we had to put blocks under the front tires & jacks.  Our pull-thru site was not long enough for the MH and car without unhooking, and still had trouble getting the car out of the road parked sideways.  But, we discovered the next day that the pull-thru sites on the next row are much longer, and would have worked better for us.  They didn't ask how long our rig was when we checked in.

The utility hookups are all the way at the back of the site.  We had to use a sewer extension, even though we were parked as far back as possible.

This is one of the campgrounds we stayed at on our maiden voyage home when we first got the MH, and we will be staying here again with the BRD caravan heading to Shawnee in a couple of weeks.

Pendleton Bend COE - Dumas, Arkansas

PFR ***
Campground **

We had reservations at this campground for 4 nights, but left after one night.  There was no cell phone signal, hardly any wifi signal, & no OTA channels.  We could get all 3 satellites, but couldn't call to get the local channels.  But, what made us leave was the MOSQUITOES!!! We couldn't step outside without being swarmed by them!  There were also several ant beds in the yard area, and the grass was very tall.

Our site was wide and deep, but the concrete parking pad was quite narrow.

This campground is 10 miles from "town", 20 miles from Walmart.  To get to the campground,  you have to go through the grain yard, with grain trucks parked on both sides of the road, waiting to have their grain processed.

Electric & Water only
Site - A13
$9.50/night
Length of stay - 1 night
OTA - None
Wifi signal - Very poor

Lake Valley RV Park - Catoosa, Oklahoma

PFR *****
Campground **+

This is the campground we stay at when we visited Sheila in Broken Arrow.  Next time we will probably stay at Warrior RV Park in Tulsa.

This campground used to be a mobile home park. All of the mobile homes have been moved out and are now just vacant, with no electric connected.  There are 2 small sections that have RV's parked in them.  They all look to be permanent residents, but most seem to be fairly well kept, but still has a "trailer park" look to it.

We had 2 sites offered to us.  The first one, there was really no way we could have gotten into it. The one we took was way low in the front.  We had to pull up onto 4 layers of blocks, and the levelers still raised the front way up. The lowest step was 18" off the ground.  The front tires were still firm on the risers, but not by much.

Site #7-16
$120/week plus $30/night
Length of stay - 9 nights
OTA - 15 channels, including MeTV
Satellite - All 3

Canadian Campground - Canton Lake COE - Canton, Oklahoma

PFR ***
Campground ***

This is a different type COE park than we are used to.  Most COE parks have really nice wide, shaded sites.  The sites at this one are very close together, more like a commercial campground, with only 1 very small sapling tree at each site.  We did have a good view of the lake though, even though we were quite a way away from the water.

The parking pad is concrete, connected to a large concrete patio with a covered concrete picnic table.  So, there was actually very little grass at each site.  What we did NOT like about this campground is that the grass between sites was full of stickers!  The site we had been assigned had an electrical problem, so we moved to a different site.  Since most sites were unoccupied, we had a choice of almost the whole park.  We walked around and finally found one that had minimal stickers.  After we pulled up the stickers we could see, the dogs only found a few with their paws, but we only used a small section of the grass for them.

Fort Dodge RV Resort - Dodge City, Kansas

PFR **
Campground **

This is a new RV park, just open 4 months, so everything is clean and new, that would probably be good for an overnight stay for some campers.  HOWEVER it is not someplace we would ever come back to.  For one thing, it is WAY over priced for what it is!

The parking pads for big rigs are wide (about 14'), fairly level, and very long concrete.  Some are pull-thru and some are back-in.  The shorter sites are gravel.  But, the sites are VERY close together, about 13' from concrete edge to edge.  Since the park was empty we selected a site at the end of the row, so we had more "yard area".  There are fire rings between each site, which is pretty scary, since they are so close together.  I wouldn't want our neighbor to have a roaring fire going just 10' from our rig!

But, what made me give this park a ** on both counts is the area between each site. It is dirt with sparse grass and STICKERS!!!!!  There were sticker patches we dug up when we first got here, and covered up some others, but there were loose stickers all over.  Every time we let the dogs out, we had to pull stickers out of their feet & comb them out of their fur.  OUCH!!!  Some were the standard type stickers and some were goat head.  They could have spent a little more money, gotten rid of the stickers, and planted some good grass.

Site #38
