Sherwood Forest RV Resort - Kissimmee, Florida

PFR ***
Campground ***

This park is a Thousand Trails park that is a combination of owned, long-term, sites with park models or cottages, and short-term RV sites.  Some of the park models are not well cared for, others are.  The cottages look pretty new and are very nice.

Our site was an RV site between 2 long-term park model sites.  They were both fairly well cared for.   Our site backed up to a small pond.  When we arrived, there was a 2' alligator at the edge of the water, which made me a little apprehensive about taking the dogs out at night.  I worried about the mom or dad being underneath our motorhome.

Our site was all grass, but was very level, and comfortably wide.  We could not get satellite with the rooftop, and didn't put out the portable because of our short stay.  We got quite a few OTA channels and also connected to the park cable.  But, the park cable was not all that great.  We had a very poor signal for our Wifi, even with the booster.  Hard to even do facebook.  Didn't even try to stream anything.

They list a 2 pet limit, but the rules stated that it was up to the management to allow more.  But, xpens were not allowed.

Site #37
$63.50/night
Length of stay - 2 nights
Satellite - None with rooftop, didn't try with portable

Ho-Hum RV Park - Carrabelle, Florida

 PFR ****
Campground ****

This park is right on the Gulf coast.  Some of the sites are right at the edge of the water, separated only by a bank of large boulders.  The entire park ground surface is made up of crushed rock.  Most was comfortable to walk on.  The sites are fairly narrow, but level.  We could only put our awning out 1/2 way without touching our neighbor's slide.  There is a 250' fishing pier.

Even though this is a no-frills park, and there is nothing much around to do, we really enjoyed our time here.  There was a variety of shore birds that came to visit often.  The changing tide was interesting to watch.  Mike enjoyed fishing off the pier, but didn't catch anything.  At times, the shoreline was way out by the end of the pier.

They do not have a pet limit, and have just the standard pet rules.

Site #43, right on the shoreline
$44/night, weekly rate
Length of stay - 1 week
Satellite - All three with rooftop

Camper's Inn - Panama City Beach, Florida

 PFR ****
Campground ***

This is an OK campground for a few nights, but wouldn't want to stay long term.  The sites are fairly comfortably wide, but not very long.  The parking pads and streets are asphalt.  There is a nice concrete patio and good grassy yard. There was barely enough room to park our car sideways across the front of our site and be out of the road.  So, everyone's cars are right out by the street, which makes it seem very crowded.  The palm tree on our site was so close to the parking pad that we could not put our awning out at all, and was actually only a few inches from our slide.  The tree was in poor condition, and looked like it could fall on our coach with just a little wind.

They do not have a pet limit, and there was enough room on our site to set up 5 xpens, but the palm tree on our site dropped a LOT of berries, that Sally found quite tasty.  I googled, and they are not toxic.

Site #51
$54.95/night
Length of stay 3 nights

White Oak Creek Campground COE - Eufaula, Alabama

 PFR ****
Campground ***+

This is a nice COE park.  Most of the sites back up to the water.  The sites on our lot had a short retaining wall, with a narrow sand swim/fishing beach.  The roads and parking pads are asphalt, with a chipped gravel patio, and a grass yard.  Our site was deep enough for our 41' motorhome and car to park, with plenty of room.  The sites are comfortably wide.

Too many trees for our rooftop satellite, and could not get any antenna channels.  But, got all 3 satellites with the portable.

Site #94
Length of stay - 2 nights
$13/night

The Ridge Outdoor Resort - Sevierville, Tennessee

PFR ****
Campground *****

This is a REALLY nice RV resort!  We were here for the DOIA rally.  The parking pads are very level concrete.  The sites are nicely wide and long.  There is good grass between sites.  There is a great events center, where we held our activities.

The reason for 4 *'s instead of 5, is that because the concrete parking pad is so wide (parking pad and patio combined), there was very little grassy area inside the xpen area, and none under the awning.  They limit you to a 10' x 10' pen.  They do not have a pet limit though.  Ned & Cherie were here with their 17 Chins.

Site #67
Rally rate $65/night - Regular rate $83/night
Length of stay - 10 nights

Elizabethtown/Hershey KOA - Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

This is a really nice campground!  The pull-thru site we had was nicely wide and VERY long!  The parking pad and streets were small gravel.  Our site had nice grass and there is attractive landscaping throughout the park.  We only put out 4 xpens, but could have put out more.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA - Plattekill, New York

 PFR **
Campground **

This is not a great campground.  The sites are pretty level, but very close together and short.  It was difficult for most of our group to park their cars/trucks in front of their RV.  The parking pads and patio are small gravel.  Although Jim & Kathy's "patio" area was just dirt and mud when they first arrived.  The campground did bring gravel in the next day, at their request.

They have a 2 pet limit, and charge a $2/day pet fee for even just 1 pet.

Site #R20
Length of stay - 3 nights
$64/night

Mystic KOA Holiday - North Stonington, Connecticut

 PFR ****
Campground ****

This is a really nice campground.  Our site was very level, with a gravel parking pad and concrete patio.  It was very long and wider than most.  There was good grass all over the site, surrounding the concrete patio.  But, because of the concrete patio, there was not any grassy area under the awning.  Even though we did not have any trees blocking our rooftop satellite, the zone one A/C  was apparently blocking the signal.  So, we did have to use the portable.

Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort - Foxboro (Foxborough), Massachusetts

 PFR ****
Campground ****

This is a very large, really nice RV resort.  There are a LOT of activities and amenities.  They let us use a large room for our group of 22 to have gatherings.  The pull-thru sites we had were very long.  Long enough for us to park either in front or behind the coach.  The parking pad is level grass and gravel.  They are comfortably wide.  But, the patio area is small rock shards that were uncomfortable for Harvey to walk on.  The pine tree on our site dropped large, quarter sized dollops of sap onto our car and patio awning.

They do not have a pet limit.

Sea-Vu West Resort RV Park and Campground - Wells, Maine

 PFR ****
Campground ****

This is a really nice campground with very large sites.  The sites are much wider than average, and plenty long enough for our 41' motorhome and car, with room to spare.  The parking pad is just grass and dirt, no concrete or gravel, but very level.  The patio is mostly dirt because of mats from previous campers.  The campground roads are well maintained asphalt.  There is a very large deeded park-model section next to the RV section.  It is very nice, and the people are very friendly. If this wasn't in Maine, it is exactly what I would like to have some day.

Site #203
Length of stay - 4 nights

This is a fine campground.  The sites are a comfortable size and level.  The sites are grass and dirt.

There is no pet limit and they allow xpens.

They were very accommodating when our group of 8 large RVs needed sites.  We had to leave our temporary Walmart sites early in the morning.  This campground has a large area in front of the park where we could all park until spots in the park became available.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts / formerly Jellystone Park, New Hampton, New Hampshire

THIS PLACE WAS A JOKE!!!  We were traveling with 9 other coaches, on a New England tour.  Reservations were made MONTHS in advance, for 10 motorhomes, each 40 - 44' long, needing 50 amp electricity.

When we arrived, we were immediately a little skeptical about how well our experience there was going to turn out.  On the main road to the office, there were a dozen cabins, very close to the road.  Each cabin must have been occupied with at least 8 - 10 people because the front yard area of each one was packed with people, sitting in lawn chairs.  Some of them were only a couple of feet off the road, but none moved back.

To get to our assigned sites, we were instructed to make a very sharp, hair-pin turn, that had to be done with a 3-point turn.  Only a couple of the sites were even long enough for a 40' motorhome, much less a 44'!  The sites were also very unlevel, grass & dirt.  Also, they turned out to be only 30 amp instead of 50 amp!  We were promised nice, 50 amp sites, and had been charged $90 per night!!  Our stay was supposed to be 3 nights, but instead it was only about an hour.  Eight of us elected to leave, and "upgrade" to a nearby WalMart parking lot for the night, and find a different campground for the next 2 nights.

The only good thing about our experience there was that they agreed to give us all a full refund.

We weren't there long enough to take photos.

Quechee / Pine Valley KOA Holiday - White River Junction, Vermont

 PFR ***
Campground ***

This is a fine campground.  The sites were comfortably wide and fairly level.  The brick patio took up most of the space under our awning, but we did have a small area of grass under the rear part of the awning.  But, it flooded when it rained.  They don't have a pet limit, and allowed xpens.

Herkimer Diamond KOA - Herkimer, New York

 PFR **
Campground ***

This is a fine campground for a short stay.  The sites are comfortably wide, and fairly level.

They have a 2 pet limit, and you have to supply them with proof of current rabies vaccines.  Since it was just for one night, we did not put up any xpens, and just took two out at a time.
