Noccalula Falls Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

PFR *****
Campground ***

When we first got here, they gave us site P6.  It was a corner pull-thru, but the water, sewer & cable, were all on the wrong side, as was the picnic table.  There also wasn't going to be much of a dog yard.  We changed to P1, which was also a pull-thru.  The dog yard was much better, although we had to use one of our mats, since it had been raining, and there was a lot of mud.  But has turned out to be a good site.  There are some nice back-in sites too.  Angel & Teresa said they were in space A28.

Wi-fi - Good with booster
Cable  - 60 channels
$21 per night
Length of stay - 3 nights

Wind Creek State Park, Alexander City, Alabama

PFR ****
Campground  ***

This is a really nice park.  It is huge, on a large lake.  The 50 amp sites have been recently renovated, with nice, long, level, wide concrete pads, with a lot of grass between sites.  Most of the 50amp sites back up to the water, with a nice view.  The wi-fi was not working due to the renovations.  The cable brought up 20 channels, but only a few were watchable.  There are no antenna channels.  We probably won't stay here again though, because it is too expensive.

Cable - not many channels
No antenna
wi-fi to come later
$55 per night (With senior discount & tax $62.95)
Site #176
Length of stay - 1 night

Frank Jackson State Park, Opp, Alabama

PFR ****
Campground ***

We arrived at Frank Jackson State Park in Opp, AL in the early afternoon.  We were told to just pick our own site.  The sites that were available, that backed up to the water, had a drop-off on one side, and seemed a little narrow, but would have been fine.  Most sites on that side were taken.  We drove around to the back side of the loop, and found a row of nice sites that were wide and level, and only one site was already taken.  Our site (#29) has a wide gravel pad, with railroad ties on either side, and a wide grassy area between each neighboring site.  The gravel pad is wide enough for us to use all 5 of our xpens, and long enough to park the car in front, with ease.

Price per night $28

Cable, over 150 channels.
Decent wi-fi, with booster.
Length of stay - 1 night

Lucky Charm RV Park, Old Town, Florida

PFR *****
Campground ***

I had called this campground a couple of weeks before our scheduled arrival date, and asked about their pet rules.  She listed the usual general rules. I asked about a limit on the number, and she said they did not have a limit, and just asked that we pick up after them, etc.  Our site was HUGE!  Nice, grassy, level site.  Our site was not shaded, but some were.  This park is owned by a husband and wife.

Length of stay - 1 night

Horseshoe Cove RV Park, Bradenton, Florida

PFR ***
Campground ****

We were at this park for a month.  We arrived 10/2 and departed 11/1.  We were there for the Living the RV Dream rally.  We got a good deal on the monthly rental for $199 for the entire month.  Our site was not the best in the park.  It was the 2nd from the end, near a high traffic area, & had no shade, but was just across from the dog walk area.  The parking pad was narrow and high in the middle (pull-thru), with a fair amount of "grassy" (weeds) area between our site and the one next to us.

Their web site talks about how dog friendly they are, but they actually had a 2 dog limit.  They did allow us to put up our xpens, and never even actually mentioned the pet limit, so we risked letting 4 out at a time. But the vegetation on the ground, (not grass), started dying, after just a few days.  We tried expanding the xpens, but the vegetation in the new area started dying after a few days too.  So, we leash walked 10, and just put Joey and Gabby in a single xpen.  We walked 4 at a time, up & down the dog walk area.  The dogs loved it.

The weather was mostly very nice all the time we were there, but starting at dusk, the mosquitoes were TERRIBLE!!!!

Space #GG9
One time rate of $199/month
Usual monthly rate is $1200/month
Electric for the month was $82.90
Length of stay 1 month

Tifton KOA, Tifton, Georgia

PFR *****
Campground ***

This was a decent campground, that we stopped at on our way to FL.  The site was spacious.  Large enough to put out all of our xpens.  But, there were a LOT of gnats!!!  It was so bad, that when a dog would poop, the gnats covered it almost before it hit the ground!

This was the one where we watched some people across from our site, chopping up a tree and bushes, to make room for a small TT.  The maintenance building was also just across from our site.  And, there were pecan trees.

McKinney COE, Acworth, Georgia

PFR **

This is the first State Park we had encountered that had a pet limit.  As we were checking in, the lady asked if we were traveling with a pet.  I said "yes", and she wrote down 1 dog.  After we got to our site, I found on the list of rules we were given that they had a 2 pet limit, with NO exceptions.  They did allow pens, so we set one up and just let 2 dogs out at a time.  It was a nice wide, level site though. :)

Length of stay - 1 night

Harvest Moon Campground, Adairsville, Georgia

The web site and info given to us at check-in only listed general pet rules.  The lady that checked us in, also did not mention any additional rules.  After getting set up and putting dogs out, a man came up and told us we had too many dogs, and that they did not allow xpens.  Also, we were going to have to carry our dogs to the other side of the park to the pet walk area, as they were not to be allowed to potty on the grass at our site, which was very nice, wide, and ran the full length of our pull-thru site.  So, we left.  They did give us a refund.

Discovery Rally - This was a GREAT park!!!  The spaces were HUGE!!  Very long, extremely wide!  Gravel pad, and thick grass.  The dogs loved this campsite!  They could really run and play.  There were a lot of striped ground squirrels around, and a corn field across from us.

Cottonwoods RV Park, Columbia, Missouri

Nice, level gravel space.  Pull thru with grass.  Some shade.  Spaces a little narrow, but were able to use several xpens.  This is the one we had to wait for the previous person to vacate our spot, but decided to change to a different site, (2 down) before they left.  The person who checked one of our friends in, asked how many dogs they had, but no one asked us.  I called them and asked what their pet rules were, and they listed just the general.  I asked if they had a limit on the number, and they said no, so we let everyone out.  No one said anything.

Length of stay - 1 night

We stayed at this campground again on 8/1/22

Nice, level, gravel pull thru that was plenty long enough for our coach and car, without needing to unhook.  Tree in the way of rooftop satellite, but got all 3 with portable.  This site was on the end, so had great grassy area on the patio side.

Branson KOA, Branson, Missouri

Blue Ridge mini rally - Nice campground.  Our space was kind of short & narrow, especially for our xpens.  Our site also had tons of little burrs that we had to comb out of our dog's coats every day.  None of the other people had any trouble with them.  They had a free pancake breakfast every morning.

Length of stay - 7 days

Tom Sawyer RV Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

This is a nice park, right on the Missisipppi River.  VERY pet friendly.  The owner even came by one night so she could meet our kids.  Our site was right on the Mississippi River.  Large, level, concrete pad, with grass next to it.  But, the mosquitoes are terrible after dark.

Our third visit to this park was 5/23/16.  We were in site #53 this time.  It was an end space, and worked out very well.  Plenty of grass.
